Tim Hopkins is a director, scenic designer, theatre and film maker. For Proms 2009 he staged Act 2 of the Mask of Orpheus (Birtwistle/Zinovieff.)
He has directed productions for The Royal Opera, ENO, WNO, Opera North,Staatsoper Hannover, Bayerische Staatsoper, Teatro Dell’Opera Roma, TheatreBasel, Buhnen Graz, Almeida Opera, The Aldeburgh Festival, SBC, BBC Symphony,BBC Proms, Alternative Lyrique Paris, Glimmerglass, Wexford, BCMG, Batignano, The Sage Gateshead, Channel 4, Aurora Orchestra, London Artists Projects,and others.
These include historic and contemporary repertoire, and, more recently,original projects he has created or made in collaboration. In 2001 he was awarded aNESTA Fellowship to consider opera in the light of new technologies, and in 2007 an AHRC Fellowship, hosted by the Centre for Research in Opera and Music Theatre,Dept of Music, University of Sussex.
He is creative director of Music Walk, and directing the Music Walk event on 17th August.
